Classification: 2nd Sous Chef
Department: Kitchen
Duties and responsibilities:
- Responsible for the delivery of high quality, attractively presented food to our guests
- Able to lead by example ensuring compliance with standards, rules, and regulations
- Ensures compliance with all corporate policies and procedures to ensure guest satisfaction
- Able to attend to work reliably
- Able to work safely and securely in a manner that protects the integrity and safety of the guest, associates and hotel
The successful candidate should possess the following skill-set:
- Minimum 5 years of comprehensive experience in a busy kitchen required
- Minimum 2 years experience as a Junior Sous Chef or Chef de Partie
- Journeyman papers required or Culinary diploma from a recognized institute
- Food Safe Level 1 required (or within 45 days of employment)
- WHMIS preferred
- Proven ability to train, delegate, supervise and work effectively within a diverse team
- Proven ability to read and interpret menus, production schedules, reports, procedure manuals and recipes
- Proven ability to calculate percentages, costings, weights, amounts of food required
- Proven commitment to high standards and quality
- Maintains excellent sanitation and cleaning habits throughout the day
- Able to communicate in fluent English with different cultures, Second language an asset
- Proven superior organizational and communication skills required
- Maintains a positive working environment based on excellence, discipline, learning & development, teamwork, respect, and having fun.
- Proven outstanding listening and problem solving skills required
- Proven Safe Work and reliable attendance record required
